Zion Youth Ministry (ZYM)

Zion Youth Ministry (ZYM) is more than a "place where kids gather". It's more like a family of brothers & sisters (that you get along with) walking together through this thing called life. Here we share the laughs & the hurts and help one another to become life long followers of Jesus Christ. We don't sit around and get a lecture but instead engage in relational ministry. The group gathers together and from our day to day experiences we find where God is present in our lives. Together we learn to care for, pray for and serve our peers both within ZYM and without.

We strive to be very inclusive. Zion Youth Ministry isn't limited to the "in crowd" that go to church, we welcome any 6th - 12th grader regardless of what you know or think about God. So whether you call Zion home, don't go to church at all or even if your church doesn't have an opportunity for you to gather with your peers in a youth group you are welcome to join us.

ZYM usually meets twice a month from September - May for youth nights at the church. We have a group of 6-8 graders that meet with Bob Hollinger and 9 - 12 graders that meet with Pat Brady. Our youth nights consist of some time to hang and talk, games, snacks, scripture, time to talk about the theme for the night and how it relates to us in our lives, and prayer. In addition to the youth nights we generally have something special each month ranging from retreats to service projects to an activity just for fun. Our students also participate in Sunday morning worship by playing in the contemporary band and serving as acolytes, ushers, greeters and AV team.

We also have opportunities for 4th & 5th graders with our pre-teen ZYM. This group meets about once a month with each month focusing on a different type of activity such as service, fun or learning. This is a great introduction to youth ministry here at Zion and helps prepare young people for entry into the middle school youth group and Head to Heart.
